Clondalkin Ladies Leinster Final

Clondalkin v Edenderry Barnhall 12:30 Saturday 2nd April

Clondalkin Ladies Captain Sandra Flood has called on her charges to make history in Barnhall this coming Saturday.

The Clonettes have the chance to claim the club’s first ever ladies silverware as they challenge Edenderry in the home of near by rivals Barnhall this coming weekend, and Flood believes there is no better motivation to secure the result.

The ladies have been in fine form of late and despite carrying a number of injuries closed out what is only their second ever league campaign with a fine run of performances.

Captain and leader, Flood has now challenged the team to bring that league form into the cup decider this weekend and claim the clubs fourth trophy in two season.

“This is a great chance for us, in what is only our second season, to lift silverware for the first time,” Flood told CRTV.

“Each and every player has the chance to make history. If that is not motivation I don’t know what is. The girls have been amazing all season and we should be confident we can win. If we perform to our best we can defeat anyone and that includes Edenderry this weekend. We are carrying a few injuries but we have a strong squad and that will come into play this weekend.

The game is in Barnhall on Saturday at 1:00 and I am sure the clubs members will be out in force to cheer us on. We have got great support all year but this is a massive game and we would love a massive crowd there.”

Meanwhile Clondalkin’s second string succeeded were the first team failed and cruised to a comfortable 26-12 win away to Longford on Sunday.

First ever second team tries from the impressive Luke Sweetman and fourth team graduate Keith Lubby as well as touch downs from Ken McMahon and big lock Rob Dever saw the Philly Byrne inspired side win their last away league game of the season.
