Build up to the big game
Jonny Stapleton
CLODALKIN Under-16 captain Bobby Smith has called on all the clubs members to come out and support the youth side as they attempt to secure some silverware this Saturday.
The 16s could become the only team in the club to win a trophy this season when they take on old rivals Portlaoise, a team they have yet to beat in their entire underage careers, in the North Midlands final and Smith believes a large support would give them an added edge.
Surprisingly the game will be contested in Gordon Park, not since the Vietnam war has home advantage been potentially so important or effective, espically if the Clubs members come out in force.
“It is really big game for us,” Smith told the Website. “We have done well this season really improved and gave a good account of ourselves in the Premier Division. Now we have a chance to cap it off with a trophy. It would mean a lot to us if the seniors and all the members came out to support us. It would give us a boost against a very good team.”

Youth Update
Article by Jonny StapletonWeek ending 22 Feb 08
Clondalkin under -14s pulled off the shock of the season when the annihilated league leaders Greystones 34-0 out in Greystones last Sunday morning.
The youth team who have endured a difficult time this term cruised to victory despite missing captain Jack “jigsaw” Cullen and William Hustous and thanks to an amazing team performance achieved a well deserved win.
Meanwhile Bobby Smith, Niall Nolan and David Jebb ended a great weekend for the underage rugby in the club when they helped North Midlands finish their area campaign with a victory over a Metro select in Coolmine on Monday night.
Smith got on the scoreboard with a trade mark close range finish, but all three were impressive throughout.
