Alan Hickey announced as 3rd team captain
The footballing committee made one of the biggest shock decisions in recent years at Clondalkin Rugby Club when they accepted Alan Hickeys request to become 3rd team captain for the 2009/2010 season.Hickey has been in sensational form for the firsts since his return from long term injury in the second half of the season was expected by many to hold onto the prized number 10 jersey even with the return of Ireland underage star, Chris Jebb, to the club.
Speaking exclusively to Clondalkinrugby.com Alan had this to say about his decision "The decision was quite an easy one for me. I'm a married man now and I need to start acting like one. The wife reckons that saturday rugby suits us better". Alan also had this to say to any player interested in playing rugby next season "Quality needs to be rehearsed, talent needs to be practiced, even if you're brilliant you still need to train. So lads if you want to win trophies for the 1sts, 2nds or 3rds then you know what you need to do".
In related news Simon Commiskey had to get emergency dental treatment when he heard the news of Hickeys appointment. According to a source, even more reliable than Big Cux, the usually surly Cummo's teeth shattered when he smiled on hearing the news. Dentists reckon this is common amongst people who have not smiled in ten years.
