Clondalkin Firsts overcame Rathdrum for the second time in three weeks coming out winners by a scoreline of 23-10. Impressive performances from Brian Berry, Alan Hickey, Paul McDermott and Carl ‘Crazy Legs’ Horan contributed greatly to this win and will have coaches Kenny O’Brien and Rob Hayes scratching their heads when it comes to picking the team for the 2nd round tie with Longford given the fact that quiet a number of first team regulars were missing for this match.

Tries from Kevin Hanlon, Sean Brennan and Carl Horan put Clondalkin on the road to victory. Horans try was quiet an astonishing try of the game given the fact that the 18 year old was making his debut for the first team and has been unable to catch a ball all season long. Precision goal kicking from veteran fullback Steve Cunningham ensured Rathdrum did not mount a comeback taking a personal tally of 8 points for the day.

Impressive defensive work from Rob ‘Eager Beaver’ Dever, Paul Nolan and Ciaran Cullen helped Clondalkin to see out the game. The standout performance of the day must go to 21 year old man of the match Paul McDermott who was hard hitting all day. Maccer had this to say after the game “I landed a lot of hard hits on Murph last weekend and was just delighted to be able to bring this aggression onto the pitch”.

In related news, the following is the first image of Murph to be released since last weekends encounter with Maccer. Clondalkinrugby.com would like to wish Murph a speedy recovery. The website would ask club members to leave comments of support for Murph on his road to recovery.

18- I wish!!, what the hell do you mean 'couldn't catch a ball'. If I couldn't catch, how did I get on? :P

Funny pic though.
