Clondalkin Captain outlines club targets
Jonny Stapleton‘Big’ Dan Fitzpatrick was elected Clondalkin Club Captain for the coming campaign last Wednesday night and instantly outlined promotion as the main goal for the forth coming season.
The big lock was elected captain for the 2009-2010 season at the AGM and wasted no time in declaring his aim is lead the club into Leinster Leagues second tier, a height Clon have never reached.
The Gordon Park side competed for the first time in Division 2 this term and successfully consolidated their position in what was a very competitive league, but new captain, Fitzpatrick has targeted further progression up the League ladder. And the inspirational forward wants to it in style by going up as league champions.
“I'd like to say that it is a huge honour to represent the club as captain for the forthcoming season. It's a very exciting time for Clondalkin rugby. Our goal this year is to win division two and get promoted to division one,” Fitzpatrick explained before highlighting club goals.
“We also hope to field a thirds team again this year. We have our sights firmly set on the Towns Cup. We have a new training regime set in place to help us on our way to achieving these goals. We have a young but very experienced squad with huge ability and we now feel we possess the tools to showcase this ability,” he concluded.
The AGM also saw hard working Terry Woodhead replace Winston Jebb as Club President and Paul Nolan, Brian Berry and Eammon Stapleton be voted as first, second and third team player of the year respectfully.
