Under 11s Move on to 1/4 Finals

Unders 11 Clondalkin team , progressed on to the quarter finals of the Metro Cup, after a fine display of rugby against a well drilled Terenure RFC side.
Meeting at 9.15am in tesco, the morning after an international, a tough ask, but the lads( and more importantly the parents) arrived on time and raring to go.
Near Baltic conditions out in lakelands with the strong breeze that would cut legs of even the most insualted of bodies, a quick chat with the nure ref , and a decision to play just the 15 mins a half , opposed to the regulation 20 seemed adivisable.
Clondalkin started the brighter , with some excellent rucking and ball presentation, and recylcing the likes of which these eyes haveyet seen from this team in over 5 years of playing to gether.
Josh( son of former back rower Shane & assitant coach for the Day)was making the hard yards, ably assited Arron who made yards at every time of asking, Josh powered over for their first try of the Day.
At the resulting restart some excellent balls skill by Padraig & Stephen kicked well from their 22 relieving pressure time and time again( the GAA skills of both coming in handy)
Scrum Half, Thomas seems to growing in confidence with every game and links up well his outhalf Stephen, Thomas Ankers suffering with a dose of flu , not to his usual high standard but battled on regardless, linking up with another star of the Day Darren a deifinite star of the future,and made the jump from 10s to under 11s with ease.
Front row of Lee Josh and adam Scrumage well all day with joshs darts supberb in the strong breeze,Excellent lines of running by wingers Alex and Alec and particliarly Owen where an absolute joy to watch.
The Game finally finshed 5-3, after an extended second half of 25 mins, clondalkin led throughout and where well in control.
Fridays nights under lights seem to be doing the trick, and with the overall quality and ball skills vastly improving, watch this space,a big thank you to Alan, Robert, Gordon,Shane and Tom, for the coaching on friday evenings for 10s and 11s, 26 kids last friday who all enjoyed Hot dogs and minerals supplied by GOODYEAR starred chef Regina, the satisfaction of parents, kids and coaches was plain to see on Sunday Morning who are now on 3 game winning run( Navan, Old Belvedere & Now Terenure) !!!
Next game yet to be decided but should be in the next 3 weeks.
