Clondalkin under 12s put in a super performance against senior Club Suttonians in their first game of 2009, with fantastic flowing rugby from the Kick Off.Every player to a man stood and was counted showing the same heart as was shown later on that day in the senior team and their marvellous win against Ashbourne.

Lenain (Youngest brother of Natasha Reynolds) put in man of the match performance scoring a hat trick of trys in the first 15 mins showing some powerful display of strength to barge over for his tries, leading to coaches feeling that he missed out on the traditional xmas turkey and ham had been feeding on some raw steak.

With great support play from the forwards Adam (G), Joash Adam (N) & Arron making the hard yards giving a excentlent platform for which to lanch wave after wave of attack, Hooking from Josh Duffy led to numerous strikes against the head , stopping suttonians gaining first phase possession, leading Thomas Duffy to set up some brave second phase possession off the base of the dominant scrum.

Clon were dominant in both the line out and scrums, or could it but some key changes by the suttonians management and the going to sleep of the the Clondalkin Team lead to the squandering of a 4-0 advantage to leave it 4-3 at the turn. Some stern talking to at half time, and clondalkin came back fighting with the backline of Thomas, Stephen,Padraic, Arron (WheAlo),Ankers and Ross linking up well to score a well deserved try for whealo leaving it now 5-3,and clondlakin where no one trick pony(or one eyed horse), but suttonians where not finished and came back to draw level 5-5.

The heart cant take much more, but the kicking skills of young Stephen bracken relived a huge amount of suttonian pressure on more than one occasion , of one such kick and subsequent lineout Arron Barge over for a try 6-5. Injuries to key men Ankers and Adam Nugent could have lead to the heads going down, but to their credit the replacements where more than equal to task and raised to the bar, Mikey, Lee, Jake and Daragh, showing that the squad is what made the difference today. Suttonians to their credit stuck with it and got the score back to six all, they then set up a sweeping attack which had try written all over it but a sublime ankle tap tackle by Bracken led to a turnover and subsequent try by arron to give him a brace for the day. Wheelo then scored another putting the game beyond doubt.

The players left the pitch to great cheers from the 30 or so supporters who made the long trip to Sutton.its a credit that it is not the winning but the taking part that counts and to their credit the clondalkin management ensured that all players got to done the CLondalkin Jersey it what was a great victory full of Skill and Heart. A special thanks to all parents for their support of the team and getting kids to matches and training.
Under 12 coach Tom Duffy had the following to say after the game "The lads used their top two percent and covered every blade of grass just as i asked them to. They got the result they deserved. They have earned their trip to McDonalds after out next home game. I have the cheque book ready to foot the bill.".
