Vickers represents Clondalkin in Inter Provincial Final

Clondalkin’s Rachel Vickers has been named in the Leinster Women’s team to face Munster in Saturday’s re-arranged interprovincial final in Donnybrook.

The former England international was named in the back row for the initial cancelled fixture but moves back into the second row for the mouth-watering and prestigious tie.

Looking ahead to the game, Leinster Women’s Coach Dan van Zyl said “We’re really excited about playing in the final and it promises to be a passionate and skilful game between two great rivals.

“Training has gone well this week and even though we’re without a few players – Fiona Coghlan, Shannon Houston and Yvonne Nolan – I have every confidence in the other players to step up and do themselves justice.

“Munster are a very good, physical side and having won the last few interprovincial titles we know that it will be a challenge for us on Saturday. The recent poor weather had affected our preparations and we moved to indoor facilities in the build up to the game.

“With a few players making their debuts for the province this weekend there has been a freshness to training this week and with the Six Nations coming up there’s a good opportunity for all the players to make an impression.”
