Under 15s Tour to Limerick
Under 15s return on Sunday after their tour of limerick Citaay, to receive their R-up Metro League Medals from club President John Stapleton. The lads set of after detour to collect a lads bags, who somehow forgot it.At 8.15am,18 Youths and 7 Adults made their way down the M7 we had a dance of en route between Barney and Scott, nice to see the big boy could still shake out some shapes. We arrived at Punches hotels, and appointed our room captains, and checked in, we then Arrange a trip to University of Limerick to their 50 m pool, where the lads went for swim, where a sharp shooter attempted to take out the life guard. We had lunch at UL, and then transferred to Young Munsters Ground, to watch the AIL Div 1 Game, between Young Munster & Garryowen. We where treated to hot blooded local derby, Munsters eventual victory led to their qualification and a game with Cork Con. The lads all had their club beanies on, which brought a lot of attention. On the tour of the city after the match the lads partook in some more food and the foot longs from Subway, and slagged everyone wearing a red jersey on O Connell Street, they called into the ‘olde worlde sweet shoppe’ where darren bought a gobstopper the size of a babies head, which he attempted to eat over the next 2 days. On arrival back for dinner ,the lads eyed up some more grub, although robert wasn’t impressed e got chocolate cake preferring the ice cream option and none was left. Fed and watered we thought we settled down to the game, and abused Robert for 79 mins, after which the lads single handily kept Papa Johns going for the night with their 12 pizza orders. The engineering skills of some the lads I was quite amazed with , and the reconstruction of furniture would leave any IKEA admirer for dead. Eventually a good nights sleep was had by all , and with breakfast starting at 7.30am it was reported that one room had breakfast(full irish) at 7.30,8.00 and 8.30,a stunning feat even by my standards. We then took a coach tour of limerick , visting The Thomond Park bridge construction , and st johns Castle, and marty informed us as to what was and was NOT limerick Citaaaay. We got down to Play Young Munsters Under 15s,despite the size of the munsters lads, our lads majority are U14s where brave to man and put in some Monster tackles, with the score at the break 14-15 to munsters. The handling skills of players and running of our back line produced 4 quality tries, against a quality opposition, but allas it wasn’t enough and they were pipped 26 points to 35 points. We where treated to some fine Young Munsters Hospitality, and held presentations , where both Alan Bracken(club Vice President), team Captain Thomas Ankers made speeches, the Munsters Youth President made presentation of a young Munsters Pennant, and hoped that they could return the fixture next season. Alan, stated that he hoped that both clubs could develop a relationship going forward and thanked Anthony(young Munsters U15s Coach) for organising the game and his hospitality. With that we hot footed it back down the M7, and more pizza was ordered , the lads where presented with their medals, and returned back to their parents all in one piece although certainly a little more tired. How do they eat so much? They represented the club both on and off the pitch with distinction.Added by April 4, 2011 (4:49PM)
