U8’s vs. Dungannon Sat: 25th April

Article by Peter Byrne

The season for the U8s concluded with a match against Dungannon RFC. Whilst the U8s lost narrowly 6-5 to an unbeaten Dungannon side they played some brilliant rugby. The outcome was always in doubt from the kick off until the final whistle. Such was the ferocity of the contest that both teams were quickly using their subs bench. Clondalkin tackled, passed, ripped the ball and put their heart into the game. All of the squad of 14 players made a real effort to help their side. It was all very rewarding for a good years training and playing unfortunately it was lost by one try but that’s sport you can’t always win and whilst the boys were really disappointed they can take great pride in their best game to date.

Our thanks to the referee Brendan Kenna (CRFC) and his linesmen for there stewardship of the game.

Of course the trip to Dungannon and the hospitality all made for a great day and the boys had some time to play off the field as well as on. Our thanks go to Dungannon RFC for the warmth of their welcome and the kind hospitality they extended to us. We look forward to reciprocating next year

The coaching team of Peter, Mark and Keith were delighted the boys made such an effort and look forward to coaching the boys again next year.
