Terry Woodhead supports the Workers Party

Article by Jonny Stapleton

The Workers Party enjoyed massive resurgence at the last European and Local Elections, and Clondalkin Rugby Club hope there very own Workers Party will be as equally successful and plentiful over the coming month.

No, the local rugby club are not going into politics, but are looking for their members to put in the graft and help ensure Gordon Park and its facilities are in perfect condition for what promises to be a landmark campaign.

The Clondalkin Rugby Workers Party will swing into action every Wednesday night from 7:00PM onwards in a bid to clean out the dressing rooms, reclaim land outside, and lots more.

Club President Terry Woodhead has began to canvas for workers and has made an urgent plea for members to come up and help in anyway they can.

“During the closed season we are engaged in general maintenance of the clubhouse and grounds.

“We urgently need bigger numbers of volunteers with paintbrushes/tools/strimmers/lawnmowers and some muscle power to undertake this work. There is something for everyone to do so round up a few friends and bring them up.

“We will have our fixtures in a few weeks and there is a strong likelihood that we will field a ladies team for next season in addition to men’s J1, J2 and J3 teams. The fielding of additional teams requires additional funding and additional maintenance of all our facilities. Along with individual volunteers we could do with groups coming forward who would together tackle a specific project or area.”

John Stapelton and Winston are presently leading the workparties.
