Sick of Rob Hayes’s Hair?
Well you can pay to get rid of it

Hi all,
It was a great season where we won 3 Cups in a week by very narrow margins so, just to round it all off, I intend to complete the “along they come in 3s” cycle by following Bruiser & Shriek with my own close shave (sorry Kev Cux & John Nolan, but your hair hadn’t similar history & I also feel mine is almost an impostor to be considered in the same company as Bruiser & Shriek (legends) – but way ahead of youse nonetheless)!!
After 2 unique years of my life where I did at least one thing I wanted rather than what others felt I should do – just to do it and see what it was like, to know what “washing my hair” was all about, “(robbing my daughters) ponies” & gel & mousse & tie ups and all that lark. Most people including June, all the kids & my mother wondered when “that bloody hair would be cut” but also about 20% said you’re right “to do it and have done it” – thanks Seanie!!
I’ve now decided to do another extreme opposite by having my head shaved on Sunday June 6th at a family BBQ in Dublin. The hair is a going and may never return to such lengths (if at all)!!!
Rather than just “waste the opportunity”, I decided to incorporate “the event” with some fund raising. As I have a 2.5 year old niece with Downs Syndrome, I’ve chosen Downs Syndrome Ireland as the beneficiary.
The last time my hair was cut was in June 2008 just before we went on holidays to Italy. Baby Alice, her 2 sisters & parents were also due to go but, in the week preceding departure when Alice was 6 months, her condition deteriorated dramatically & she had to be rushed to Crumlin for a “Hole in the heart” operation – a common side condition with DS, but which almost disastrously went undiagnosed for some months. Had Alice got onto the plane, she would almost certainly have died, but the good news is that she has made a great recovery and now attends normal pre-school & competes strongly for attention whenever her 2 older sisters “perform”.
DS in Tipperary has been huge in assisting Alice, and also her parent’s outward approach to the condition. I just want to make my small contribution to this very worthwhile charity.
I will take support from by email, text or at either/both the President’s dinner and the AGM next week for anyone willing to support (although please note I’m not trying the upstage either very worthy event).
You will see “the results” later as I will get either Hips or “THE Ghost writer” Murts to put pictures on the Clondalkin site.
Thanks and any support is welcome (as always).
