New era for the ladies

Clondalkin Rugby’s reputation the quickest expanding club in Leinster Rugby has been reinforced as the Gordon Park side look set to launch their fourth new team in just under two years.

After witnessing the rapid development of the Senior Ladies, who got promoted midway through only their second season and can lay claim to Leinster and Nomad cap Rachel Vickers, Clon have launched and under age ladies rugby set up.

And Gordon Park history will be made when the first ever underage Clondalkin ladies side take to the field against Blackrock on Sunday February 27.

The girls, who range from 10 years of age up, have been training twice a week since September, but next Sunday represents their first ever game in Clondalkin colours.

Vice President Barney Bracken expressed his delight re the new team and encouraged the members to get out in support.

“We are delighted to welcome a new team to the ever growing Clondalkin family,” Bracken told CRTV.

“The girls have been training here with Catherine Keane, who is doing a marvellous job, all year and its great to see they have got a match. The are making history here next Sunday and they will be the first of what will hopefully be a full quota of underage ladies sides in the future. We hope as many members as possible can get out and support them. We also hope the parents and families come out in force. The girls have worked very hard all year and have been a great addition to the club they deserve all the support and success they get.”
