Minister John Curran Kukri 5,000 Tackle Challenge Clondalkin RFC

Clondalkin RFC will hold the sponsorship event on the 19th of October 2008, the challenge is simple 5,000 tackles to be completed in one day by the Mini-section of Clondalkin RFC.What is truly a Unique event, and has captured the support of local business, who have all ready came out in support financially.

Minster of State John Curran will be there on the day, to present a Jersey to the mini section , and also to meet some of the children.We place at the corner stone of mini- rugby here at clondalkin at FUN and to this end we intend to give a goodie bag to all participants,and to make it as enjoyable as possible. We intend next year to attempt a Guinness Book of records attempt at the most tackles in one hour which is currently held by an Australian school and is currently 4,700 in one hour.

We envisage over 100 children being evolved on the day it way promises to be a fun and enjoyable day, and also raising much needed funds for underage rugby here in Condoling and also to raise the profile of Rugby in non rugby heartland.

Also our under 12s team will play at the half time slot against enniscorty at the Wasps v Leinster heiniken cup game the night before, and the mini section has organised a supporters bus to take the mini section to the RDS to support leinster and Clondalkin under 12s, in what will be for some their first time to watch a professional rugby game. Clondalkin are fielding teams from under 6, 7,8,9,10,11,12,14,16,18, and always welcome players of ALL abilities to enjoy the warm welcome and atmosphere which is on show at Clondalkin RFC.

CLondalkin RFC mini section has grown considerably over the last number of years,and the fruits of which are beginning to show most recently with young Paul Nolan making the Leinster youth Squad and Chris Jebb(leinster youths & Irish Youths) playing AIL with Dublin University, Under 18 ALL Ireland finalists 3 years ago, and hopefully we can add to our only club full international John Sexton in the near future.
