Dan Fitzpatrick "A lot done, more to do"
Clondalkin Club captain Dan Fitzpatrick is content with where the club are positioned as their season reached half time but is singing from the "a lot done more to do" mantra. Both the first and second squads are sitting in second in the league after the first round of fixtures whilst the Senior Ladies panel have received promotion in only their second ever season. The third string have not being enjoying great results of late but can boast a core nucleus of young players who will one day make up the first team. The fourth string continue to field comfortably giving new and old players a chance to play regular rugby. Considering the progression of the youth structure too, Fitzpatrick is very positive about how the season has gone so far, but is eager to stress no game was ever won by half time. “The first team are remain on course for promotion,” the Kilnamanagh man told CRTV. “We have another round of fixtures to complete but we believe we can go up and the target is to win the league. The seconds had a disappointing result losing for the first time in the league against Kilkenny last week, but they are well in contention and they will be confident of beating anyone on their day. That league might well go down to the last day of the season when the seconds have Kilkenny at home,” he added before commenting on the thirds and fourths.“The thirds have had a few unlucky results of late, but they really are packed with good young players. Results may not have gone their way in the league but there are lads there that can and will play first team when we reach Division 1. The fourths continue to give the place a lift. They are raw but great to watch and full of enthusiasm. All in all it’s been a great season so far but we have a lot more to do ensure its great, come March and April.” Jonny Stapleton
